  1. B-17 GUNNERY PRACTICE
  2.  
  3. Allied bomber gunners were the unsung 
  4. aces of World War II.  Although they 
  5. didn't usually score as many kills as
  6. fighter pilots, they also had the 
  7. unenviable job of sitting in a slow-
  8. moving target.  Gunners had to protect 
  9. their own ship as well as those of 
  10. their formation.  Flying in "combat box" 
  11. formations, they covered each other with 
  12. a dense field of fire that caused many 
  13. German pilots to hesitate before 
  14. attacking.

  16.                     YOUR MISSION
  17.  
  18. You are a wingman in a combat box of 
  19. four B-17s.  For gunnery practice, 
  20. several waves of enemy fighters will 
  21. attack.  Defend yourself and the other 
  22. bombers by jumping between gunner 
  23. positions as necessary.  Learn to use
  24. deflection shooting to lead your target 
  25. so that it flies into the stream of
  26. bullets from your guns.  Be careful not
  27. to shoot the other bombers in your
  28. formation.

  30. Your B-17 cannot be damaged and has
  31. unlimited ammunition.
  32.  
  33. Your mission will not end automatically.
